The beginning…

Casey as taken by Scott CaanSo based on the assistance of my roommate who claims that I rant quite a lot (and is probably tired of listening to me rant), I am starting a blog in order to share my rants with the world.  They will mostly be blogs related to entertainment (movies, music, TV, celebrities, comics) since those kinda drive my life outside of school. So I hope you all enjoy!

As for the topic that began my rant this evening? Pictures were put up on a live journal community of Casey Affleck, his wife Summer, and their sons.  The rant wasn’t so much to do with the pictures, but with people’s responses that they’ve only stared loving/liking Casey since Gone Baby Gone or The Assassination of Jesse James.  Don’t get me wrong; there are actors that I’ve only started loving (become obsessed with) after certain movies or shows; a lot of fans go through the same process. (Current one for me is John Turturro; always respected him and thought he was great, but it wasn’t until watching Do the Right Thing in my Comparative Directors class that I really started to like and appreciate him as an actor). And I hate people who complain about how others jump on the bandwagon once someone becomes famous and then jumps out of the fan base because of it.   Hopefully I don’t come across as one of those people.  Lord knows I still love Casey and will continue to.  But I feel like the way they made their comments was what got me riled up.  Like he wasn’t any good before these movies.  If you know me, you know I’m very protective of my Ocean boys (the men in the Ocean’s 11 trilogy).  It is my favorite movie so I have to defend it and the men all that I can.  And Casey is a fantastic actor; he’s finally getting the opportunity to branch out and be recognized.  And hopefully these two movies will enable others to watch his previous work and see how great he was, is, and will be. (FYI-that beautiful pic of him was taken by Scott Caan during the filming of Ocean’s 12. I like to imagine that they’re really good friends in real life).

So hopefully my rant wasn’t too painful.  On another note, Amber just won Rock of Love 2, making it two seasons in a row that I’ve picked the winner.  Why I’m obsessed with this crappy VH1 reality show, I have no idea.  It’s just so damn entertaining. And Bret is so disgusting which makes my roommate and I gag every time he kisses one of the girls.

Random Celebrity Sighting for the Day: Ethan Coen (who made me lose my train of thought while talking to my roommate).
