Iron Man v. Kung Fu Panda

June 15, 2008 at 4:13 am (Movies) (, , )

This entertains me so much. I could watch it over and over again and never get tired of it. I really hope that Tropic Thunder is hilarious since the stuff Ben Stiller, RDJ, and Jack Black are doing together to promote it is comedy gold. And I would love to see RDJ in an Iron Man mask and Jack Black in a panda head fight some more. Good times.

Iron Man 2

http://joblo.com/favs-less-iron-man-2

I sincerely hope that Marvel brings back Jon Favreau for Iron Man 2. He did an amazing job as the director of the first one, and I think they’d be taking away a vital dynamic. He and Robert Downey Jr. work well together, and I’m worried that if Favs drops out, RDJ will leave too (which would make me scream nooooooo!!!). It’s because of Favs that RDJ was cast as Tony Stark, something I’ve supported since the beginning since RDJ was Stark in another life (pre-rehab). Favreau and Iron Man are a match made in heaven, and I really REALLY hope that Marvel gets its act together and hires him to return. I’d rather have a good quality movie by Favs than a movie that was rushed through production and is crap. Haven’t we learned anything from crappy comic book movie sequels?

On another note, The Incredible Hulk is getting good reviews from early screenings and hopefully this good word of mouth will lead to a great box office return.  I’m excited to see it and will be seeing it with my younger brother at the midnight showing. I’ve had faith in this movie since the news of the casting, and I’m glad to know that it will make fanboys happy while also be extremely entertaining. Hulk Smash!

Avengers Assemble!!!

May 5, 2008 at 8:32 pm (Comics, Movies) (, , , , , )

http://joblo.com/avengers-in-2011

I cannot wait for all the Marvel movies coming out in the next few years. Hopefully they’ll be as good as Iron Man.  The question now becomes who will be in the Avengers movie? It looks like Marvel is trying to establish the characters individually before doing a team movie (unlike DC and Justice League). And I sincerely hope that they use the same actors that are in the individual movies. So based on what movies have happened and what’s coming up, it’s a sure bet that Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America will be in it. But who else? I’m kind of hoping Wasp, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Black Widow will be in it. That way it’ll have some girls, and a good mix of characters. I hope that it doesn’t become too crazy with a ton of characters so that it takes away from the story. So Avengers Assemble! (Update: PLEASE GOD, DON’T CAST MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY AS CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!)

College graduation is almost here, as in less than a week, and it’s exciting and terrifying at the same time. What am I going to do with my life? Hopefully this degree from a prestigious school will help me move on in life, but where exactly am I moving to? Decisions, decisions, decisions. I wish someone could just point me in a direction and give me a great job that’s perfect me and what I like right out of the starting gate.

And now that I’m at the end of the year, I have to say that I hate missed opportunities. I’ve realized that there are things that I wish I had done or said during college. It went by way too fast, and I’m worried that I didn’t have a full college experience.

Quote of the Day - Homer Simpson: “What? I’m going for a Shia LaBeouf thing. Not quite a nerd, not quite a hunk! Shia LaBeouf!” (I love Shia!)

Quote #2 of the Day: Professor Navare; “Like a guy who dies from too much viagra, sometimes science fiction is just too hard.”

I had to add this link as well.  If Robert Downey Jr and Heath Ledger are nominated for Oscars for being in comic book movies, I will be the happiest comic book nerd ever. Johnny Depp was nominated for playing Jack Sparrow so it shouldn’t be that hard to be nominated for playing Tony Stark or The Joker. Please, Academy Award voters, make comic book fans’ dreams come true. I bet Oscar ratings would go up. =)

Gaze at the Hero Hotness

May 2, 2008 at 8:25 pm (Comics, Movies) (, , , , , )

I realized that I’ve been writing a lot about comic books and comic book movies lately. But I can’t help it! I love comic books, and with all the comic book movies coming out this summer, I have to geek out. Plus this Dark Knight poster was way too gorgeous to pass up. So gaze, GAZE at the hotness of Batman, Joker, and Harvey Dent (although I still daydream about what it would be like if Edward Norton had taken the role of Harvey. Oh, so much hotness in one movie. At least Edward will be in The Incredible Hulk this summer to make up for it).

I also got very giggly on the subway yesterday while reading my Daredevil “Guardian Devil” trade paperback. There’s an intro by Ben Affleck (aka Mr. Movie Daredevil), and he talks about his love of Daredevil and the Frank Miller comics. He mentions Bullseye killing Electra and then Daredevil letting Bullseye drop from the clothesline, and asks “Am I the only guy who occasionally rooted for Bullseye?” And in my mind, I was screaming “Oh my God, me too! We could be friends, Ben Affleck!!!” At least I didn’t yell it aloud. And my friends and I were talking about the Daredevil movie last night, but they can’t judge since they’ve never seen the Director’s Cut which is superior and amazing. They should have released that version in theaters so it could get respect. And I sometimes wonder how the movie would have been if Ben Affleck had gotten the role he originally auditioned for instead of this hot man:

And I can’t make a post about comic book movies without mentioning Iron Man. Plus Jon Favreau played Foggy Nelson in Daredevil and directed Iron Man so it’s a good transition. Iron Man is still AMAZING!!! I cannot wait to see it again. =) (and yes this picture entertains me because Tony is drinking in it).

This post has been approved by Nick Fury, I mean, Samuel L. Jackson (go see Iron Man!).

Iron Man = Awesomeness All Around

May 2, 2008 at 3:03 am (Comics, Movies) ()

I’m back from the midnight screening of Iron Man, and it is AMAZING!!! I loved, loved, loved it; it’s definitely now in my Top 5 Comic Book Movies. Everyone is perfectly cast in their roles - I knew Robert Downey Jr. would be perfect as Tony Stark/Iron Man, but everyone else was great too. And it set up possible sequels and plot lines (War Machine, drunk Tony, Avengers). And yes, I giggled every time Tony had a drink or there was a SHIELD reference. There was a good mix of action, comedy, and romance, and everyone just hit it out of the ballpark. This is my Top Movie of the year so far (The Dark Knight better be amazing as well!), and I NEED to see it again.

PS - Stay for the scene after the credits. Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury talking about an Avengers Initiative? It sent shivers down my spine.

The Incredible Iron Knight and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls

April 30, 2008 at 5:53 pm (Comics, Movies) (, , , )

Not only am I seeing Iron Man in 30 hours, but they are also supposed to show the new trailers for The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, and Indiana Jones beforehand!!! I am freaking out!! I feel bad for my friends who have to experience my nerdiness, but who cares??? It’s going to be amazing! And since they’ve only put the new The Incredible Hulk trailer online, I’ll post it here for everyone’s enjoyment (including mine). I know I’ll be watching it a few more times tonight and squealing over the hotness of Edward Norton. This trailer looks even better than the teaser, and I am SO excited!

Random Pictures

April 26, 2008 at 12:30 am (Celebrities, Comics) (, , , , )

I’m exhausted from working another premiere (Lake City) and from last night so I decided to just post a bunch of photos that have come out recently that entertain me. Plus I saw William Moseley today for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. =)

I just love it cause it looks like Robert Downey Jr is flashing Jeff Bridges (the Dude!). Plus I am super excited for the midnight screening of Iron Man in less than a week!

This Disney ad is gorgeous, and it’s a lot better than the recent ones they’ve released (the Pocahontas/Jessica Biel and JLo-Mark Anthony/Jasmine and Aladdin were HORRIBLE!). That’s Julianne Moore looking beautiful as Ariel, and Michael Phelps is being sexy and swimming in front of her. Awesome.

The male cast members of Gossip Girl are so hot! There should be a law against having that many hot people in one show. I can’t wait to watch the new ones when I get home in a few weeks (why the heck did the CW move it to Mondays during Greek???) And personally I think Ed and Penn are way hotter than Chase which may have something to do with the fact that Dan (Penn’s character) is so sweet, Chuck (Ed’s character) is so deliciously evil (and I really want him back with Blair), and Nate (Chase’s character) is so whiny and boring.

And since I mentioned William Moseley earlier, I have to mention his gorgeous Prince Caspian co-star, Ben Barnes. His British accent is also to die for.

The Incredible Sexy, I mean, Hulk Poster

April 15, 2008 at 1:38 am (Celebrities, Comics, Movies) (, , , , )

This is the official poster (finally) for The Incredible Hulk, out June 13th.  I’m actually excited; the first one wasn’t that great, and I love Edward Norton and William Hurt. Please, let this be good.  I’ve also discovered that Tim Roth will now be at the Hulk panel at NYCC this weekend.  Sure, it’s not Edward Norton (which would cause me to faint), but Tim is still cool.  Plus I can ask about his weird accented singing in “Everyone Says I Love You” which has no relation to the Hulk whatsoever.  And I’m tired of at least 50 people on livejournal asking “wasn’t there already a Hulk movie” every time there’s a Hulk post. It’s called reading the responses above you! Sheesh.

And as a nice compliment to the Hulk, I had to include Iron Man as well since this movie looks amazing based on the trailers.  And Robert Downey Jr is Tony Stark. I cannot wait for May 2nd!!! (And am secretly excited for drunk Iron Man in the 2nd movie).

RDJ working it
